Goodbye....

Hey there! I guess I finish where I started…72 days ago I sat here in Costa with my head in my hands wondering how the heck I am to write a blog. Here I am 10 weeks later, and I would like to say I’ve made progress and learnt something new! Speaking of progress, this morning myself and some friends held a workshop on big data and business intelligence (not something I thought I would ever do and even more, enjoy). Go have a look at their blogs if that is something that interests you:  Rachael's Digital Economy Blogs  ,  Hazel's Digital Times  and  Rachel's Digital Economy Blogs  . I’m not sure if you remember, but I actually done a blog post on this a few weeks ago, feel free to read if you haven't already!  Big Data Blog  & if that doesn't work: https://laurlogsdigitaleconomy.blogspot.com/2023/10/big-data.html It was interesting to see the research I did for my blog, as well as the material I learnt in class and applying that to a real-li...

Search Engine Optimisation

Hello again,

Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the topic of this week’s blog. If you’re not sure what that is, until 60 minutes ago neither did I. Based on my research, here are my top 10 tips to improve quality and quantity of website traffic from the search engine. Hopefully this will help website ranking.

1.      Update material from your website within the last 12 months. Review out of date content and make required adjustments…maybe update the images, the information most likely should be fine.

2.      Use visual aids! Use photos to break up long text-based content which helps readers understand it better. This is help increase website traffic as it is more interactive that just text.

3.      Go find a SEO Checker as this will highlight weak points on your website (& maybe even offer some suggestions on this). A few of these weak points could be with technology, content, or user experience.

4.      ⚠️Avoid ⚠️ using target keywords. Instead concentrate on target question keywords. I realize it sounds contradictory, but this leads to strong rivalry.

5.      Improve the pages that you see are trending and have more views. Try focus on your top 5 - the more views your website receives, the more traffic it receives. Its a win-win.

6.      Use linking techniques as part of your SEO strategy. This generate information that is highly shareable and follows current trends. Use internal links – this encourages the reader to stay on your website which grows your views!!

7.      A useful tool for tracking your metrics is Google Analytics. It shows traffic that comes directly from the search engine. USE THIS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE but don’t over focus on it daily – observe this on a monthly basis to watch your website grow.

8.      Embrace the digital world as it is. Have a mobile website. Fun fact: over 90% of people use them to access the internet.

9.      A quite obvious is one but social media. Promote your content to drive traffic to your website (remember we live on our phones)

10.  People want instant, so cut down on your website loading time. Nobody wants to wait.

I hope you have a better understanding of SEO – I certainly do! Watch this clips for better understanding:
